New babies

While I was gone in NC and since I've been back the goats have been busy! There were two sets of twins and one single goat born while I was gone and this morning another set of twins! All the babies seem well
These are the twins from this morning, they might be 1 hour old in this pic. Sorry its not better quality, they were not very solid on their feet yet.
These are the dairy goat twins, a couple days old now. The billy goat behing them is the father.
The puppies are still doing well. Remy got to go out to the sheep with my lesson this morning. He did pretty well for the first time in today. No fear what so ever, just not yet sure what he was supposed to do with the sheep. Yeah!

Last day...

Well today was our last day here and it started with a big thunderstorm. The day turned out pretty nice though and I was able to take the dogs on a hike. It was a bit overcast so the light wasn't great for pics but some I couldn't resist.
The group shot was a bit dicey. My two dogs (Sally and Beli) were still like little models, the other two were not so cooperative.
Old man Beli posing in the leaves, he had a good time trying to catch chipmunks.
Beli and Sally bringing up the rear, they kept stopping to hunt chipmunks:-))

Lily in the pretty Fall leaves, it goes well with tan points, I think.
So the long drive home is tomorrow, back to the grindstone:-))

Hiking and puppies

We got to go on a very nice hike, take some pics of the dogs and enjoy the morning. Jill and Margaret left this afternoon with Elliot and Bolt:-(
The Great Smoky Mountains
Lily on the hike, she had a blast leading the way for the crew.

Apple picking and Linville Falls

Well I don't have any pics of the apple picking but we got the apples to prove it. I'll have plenty of canning to do when I get home, yummy:-)) Then Jill and I got lost trying to get to Linville Falls, which was just a disaster. There are all sorts of folks here for the leave change so it was just packed and miserable to drive up there.
Beli overlooking the falls
A look at the upper falls, it was a .8 mile walk and Beli made it pretty well most of the way. We did carry him for a little ways since he was tired and there were just too many people to stop and let him rest:-)) He loved the walk and all of the people and other dogs, the last little steep hill he galloped up and ended his day with a smile:-)

Beautiful NC!

Well we had a bit of a late start after an unplanned trip to the vet. Traffic did not cooperate either but we finally made it after 12 hours on the road. The puppies did a fabulous job on the trip. Its by far the longest they have been in the car and we only stopped 2x to walk/water/eat. There was no in between whining or accidents either. I left them in an X-pen with paper overnight so I didn't have to get up early after going to bed at 2am, they used it too, I heard them playing and roughhousing well into the wee morning hours! So after play time this am here they are napping on the sunny back deck.

This is the view out of our front porch on the mountain. The leaves are going quickly because of all the wind but they are still pretty to us FL folk that don't get season changes.
This is the view off the back deck towards the ski resort (not open obviously) and Asheville (a ways off!) Lots of color too!
My sister built an awesome fire pit last weekend when she was here so we might have to have a bonfire and roast marshmallows. Yeah!
Finally the vet visit. Abby was in lots of pain on Wednesday night from an apparent muscle pull in her loin area. She didn't even want to stand up! I left her with my vet for the weekend for some R&R, the report today was that she is back to 100%! Poor girl I'm sure she's not happy about her vacation but its the best place for her while I'm out of town.

and now there are 7...

So two more babies have gone to their new homes.
Crush with the Valcavi Family. I think they are going to get along just fine, he seemed quite happy with his new people!
Boo and Esther. Boo left early this morning, hopefully Gromit will be showing him the ropes soon!
It is sad to see them go, Boo was my moms favorite so she is sad he is gone. Crush is such a sweet easy going guy that loves his people so both of them will be missed here but I know they will be much loved in their new homes! More pics later this weekend of everyone else. Next group leaves in North Carolina next weekend when Bolt and Elliot will be going on to their show homes up north. We will get to visit with Jill too! Looking forward to the break in weather and hopefully picking apples!

Best friends...

or worst enemies? Somedays its hard to tell:-)) The dogs and I had a nice long relaxing walk tonight, well the walk was relaxing for me, the dogs as you can see had other ideas...

Sally and Rosy having their nightly sparring match, Lily our new arrival is coming to the rescue.

Very happy dogs, Rosy is always attached to Sally, if Sally doesn't attach to her first:-)

Lily inviting Sally to play. Sally is a funny dog and doesn't really care for other dogs, but she really loves Lily. The two of them commenced playing as you can see from the new header.
Lily came from Harry Griffith in NM and is Olivers granddaughter. She loves the other dogs and is starting to find her place here.

Rosy and Sally back to fighting again, they are friends again soon after, sounds aweful when they spar though.

...and then there were 9

Cinder with her new family the McLaughlins. I'm sure she is still pouting about her newly taped ears but I'm sure she'll be happy with her new family!

Thursday, October 7, 2010

and then there were 10...

The first to leave was Buzz, after our visit to the clinic for health certs and more shots... He was such a brave boy though, I don't even think he looked back:-)) It seems that they will be very happy and I know I'll see him again since he is living with my wonderful friends Karen and Jon!
Elliot begging for attention

Dory hoarding the toy, such a very proud girl!

I called "Cookies" and they all came a running, I got several other pics but they are all blurry since I was trying to run ahead of everyone too!:-))

Bolt missed the mass exodus to the back field by 9 naughty little puppies. He patiently waited at the fence line til we came back though.

Alis gets to show off her new do. She is the second puppy now to have her ears come up spontaneously, I love it!

Abby gets to play with her babies now that there is no milk for them to thieve, she loves it and so do they!

Puppy videos

This is one of the two puppy pens. This is the morning and evening pen.

I hope these videos don't give you too much of a headache! Trying to keep up with the puppies while videoing is not an easy task. These were taken 10days ago. Puppies are 8wks old today. We've done evals and decisions are being made. Always such a difficult thing to decide where each puppy will go to be the happiest member of society:-))
